A book that I highly recommend entrepreneurs read is “Oversubscribed: How To Get People Lining Up To Do Business With You” by Daniel Priestley.
It outlines a smart strategy: get more people wanting your service than you could ever help, and don’t start selling it until you hit that point.
So if you have 100 spots for whatever, you get 500+ people wanting it …
A few quotes that I highlighted in the book:
“Your value is much higher than you think to a small number of people. You don’t need everyone on the planet to see you as in demand; you only need enough people who can drive your price up”
“Your goal is to place a high value on what you do and work with people who do as well. Set your boundaries, have your terms, protect your space so you can deliver something special”
“You can go broke trying to tell people what they need. However, you will do very well if you figure out what people want and figure out how to get it for them. Need is logical and want is emotional. Emotions will win every time, even with the most intelligent people”
Back to the subject of building up more demand than supply, Ann Carden does that with her live 2 day workshops. She keeps them intentionally small, instead of just letting anyone attend.
She’s putting Daniel Priestley’s “Oversubscribed” method into action and building a waitlist of interested coaches for her January workshop.
