“How’s business?” is a common question and topic of conversation between entrepreneurs – whether it be farmers, mom and pop stores, mechanics, and coaches.
I ask coaches this one often, and last year I noticed a shift in the responses I got.
I started to hear more gloomy replies, with a change in the person’s energy to a more subdued, negative one.
Some coaches were candid and admitted that things were down significantly, while others said they were down a bit.
And others had the same revenue/no growth from the previous year, but spun it as a win since so many coaches are struggling in the online space after consumers were given “free” money from the government during the pandemic and used it to buy online courses and coaching programs.
(Note: nothing from the government is ever a gift, or really free …)
While it’s great to have survived at a time when so many were getting out of the coaching space, my opinion is it’s not enough to just stay the same.
“When you stop growing you start dying”, as William S. Burroughs once said!
