I recently saw a report from PodMatch that caught my eye.
It was all about the chances of success and failure as a podcaster, and gave stats for when shows call it quits, after:
8 episodes: 47.98%
50 episodes: 10.59%
100 episodes: 6.12%
200 episodes: 2.16%
300 episodes: 3.40%
(I realize this doesn’t equal 100%, so there were outlier numbers, but you get the idea)
As you can see, most podcasters stop before they hit just 8 episodes, but it doesn’t have to be that way!
As someone who’s released almost 900 episodes of my own show, I believe that podcasting is all about hanging in while others are dropping out.
