I once told a client that he was being a “Harlem Globetrotter”.
My client was great at what he did. He’d been at it a long time and he knew what he was talking about …
But he was overcomplicating things.
Like the Globetrotters, who perform trick plays, shoot from all kinds of distances and angles on the court, and use crazy props to make fancy shots, my client was making things more difficult instead of going for the simple layup and the two points.
He’s not alone, I see this happening a lot in the coaching world – there’s a sense that if things are too simple they can’t possibly work.
(I place a lot of the blame on the gurus who paint a complicated picture to justify the price of their expensive magic funnels and systems)
If you have a simple, non-complicated way to help coaches get more business and you want to get it out in front of 100,000 coaches, I’m currently filling new joint venture spots.
