The late, great Gary Halbert once told a story that I’ve never forgotten.
When he was teaching marketing classes, he would challenge his students by asking:
“If you and I both owned a hamburger stand and we were in a contest to see who could sell the most hamburgers, what advantage would you most like to have on your side to help you win?”
The students would give various answers, like lower prices, better buns, tastier meat, and a prime location …
Then Halbert gave his (and was 100% confident that he would win this imaginary bet):
A starving crowd.
“Feed a starving crowd” is something I advise coaches to do.
Find out what people want, give it to them on a steaming hot platter, and watch them dig in.
But it’s easy to miss that in my own business.
For example, since relaunching my “10 Clients In 90 Days” program earlier this year, I’ve spoken with a lot of coaches who wanted it, but who found the price tag ( $4995 one-time, or 3 monthly instalments of $1995) too steep for their budgets at the moment.
So they told me that they’d be back to it once they brought in enough revenue to invest in it.
The problem is unless they get help bringing revenue in, they won’t ever get the money for it.
It’s a real Catch-22.
I toyed with the idea of spreading the payments out longer to lower them and make it more accessible for coaches, but held back since some smart online friends I talked with advised against doing that.
But the other day I thought “screw it”, and decided to do something new that allow more people to benefit from the program, regardless of their budget:
I’ve decided to introduce an option where you can spread the payments out over 12 months, so it’s just $497/month.
This will give coaches time to put what I teach into action, and get revenue coming into their businesses.
